Engineering Support Specialist for R&D Data Center
The client is in need of a Computer Scientist to support Data Center Systems and serve as the liaison between the data center, Research Labs Environment Support Team, and the Research Project Teams. Candidate will be very hands-on technical with primary responsibilities for the compute, storage, and LAN of the Data Center and virtual environments. Other responsibilities include mitigating equipment failures in order to provide constant compute and data systems availability, integration of new infrastructure equipment in order to retire legacy systems, and migration of customer data from legacy systems to new storage. The highest priority skills are: Linux & Windows system engineering; Patching; VMware administration; HPC administration; and OS Security. Database Administration and cloud engineering experience is a plus. Security+ certification desired.
The strongest skill is Linux, but an ability to also work to patch and troubleshoot Windows Servers. Ability to troubleshoot/replace hardware is important as well if something were to fail or go down.
