Our Research Division has several new HPC (High Performance Compute) systems designed to assist with very large algorithms, Big Data, and AI Machine Learning tasks in support of Research’s development of models and applications which include such massive processing requirements. The HPC Systems Engineer supports Research with designing, building, testing and implementing and then utilization via training and documentation on how end users will be able to access and utilize the systems and the environments within HPC, that include Cray and NVIDIA clusters. Skills the HPC Engineer must have are: knowledge of the HPC systems and how they operate, what the components are of HPC servers, systems with many CPUs/GPUS and many nodes for parallel processing, networks that are multi-path and can move data at high speed into and out of the Nodes/CPUs/GPUS into RAM and to and from storage devices, understand the high speed parallel storage devices, and the many supporting hardware and software, and systems software toolsets required for running the HPCs, managing them, and for end users to run their specific AI or math toolsets and programming languages for utilizing the systems.
